Shifting climate zones and expanding tropical and arid climate regions across Kenya (1980–2020)

چکیده
Abstract Human-induced climate change significantly alters the spatiotemporal characteristics of zones, which drives agricultural land use and ecosystem change. However, detectability shifting zones rate time changes has yet to be adequately addressed at regional-to-local scale. We mapped analyzed temperature precipitation across Kenya during past four decades, linked those shifts in geographic distribution arrangement regional scales. observed an approximate 1 °C increase average annual over 40-year period. A total 76,346 km 2 shifted from cooler hotter while 1298 zones. Tropical regions expanded 91 93%, with 13,000 alpine temperate tropical regions. Average demonstrated little or no trend, but substantial spatial were observed. 136,129 wetter drier 23,317 Arid 72 81%, a roughly 50,000 shift humid semi-humid-to-semi-arid arid Overall, there was 207,557 As predominately toward conditions, climatic diversity will decline, turn, goods services society decline. The also have broader global implications terms their contribution drylands as well influencing earth system cycles. such information can better inform Kenyan National Climate Change Response Strategy used reach UN Sustainable Development Goals.

High-altitude Climate Zones and Climate Types
This chapter gives a brief analysis of basic factors influencing highland climates and peculiarities of atmospheric circulation caused by mountain systems. Special attention is paid to characteristics of highland climate which are manifested in regimes of temperature, precipitation, wind, solar radiation, etc. Typical and exclusive features of highland climates in different large-scale climatic...

متن کاملLocomotion in response to shifting climate zones: not so fast.
Although a species' locomotor capacity is suggestive of its ability to escape global climate change, such a suggestion is not necessarily straightforward. Species vary substantially in locomotor capacity, both ontogenetically and within/among populations, and much of this variation has a genetic basis. Accordingly, locomotor capacity can and does evolve rapidly, as selection experiments demonst...
متن کاملClimate change and dead zones.
Estuaries and coastal seas provide valuable ecosystem services but are particularly vulnerable to the co-occurring threats of climate change and oxygen-depleted dead zones. We analyzed the severity of climate change predicted for existing dead zones, and found that 94% of dead zones are in regions that will experience at least a 2 °C temperature increase by the end of the century. We then revie...
